Lora Whelan lives way Downeast on the shores of Passamaquoddy and Cobscook bays on the border of Maine and Canada. She is self-taught.
“I love stories. I am a storyteller with paint, canvas, drips and lines. You look at my paintings and wonder what the story is, and when you read the title it gives you the alphabet and a tiny dictionary. You may decide that you are making your own story from my art. I don’t mind. My art is for everyone who likes to squint their eyes and see the world tilt and blur; for everyone who has submerged themselves next to the marsh grasses, keeping their eyes just above the waterline, watching the damselflies navigate their vertically and horizontally moving world.”
